The Video Accent Blog

I’m finally getting around to the Accent Vlog that’s been posted by tons of bloggers lately.  What can I say?  I’m on Hawai’i time (and we are quite a few time zones behind everyone else… just sayin).  I’ve been wanting to do it for a while now – whoever thought of the idea is brilliant and I’ve love being able to get a sense of what bloggers are like in real life! – but just haven’t been able to find the time until this morning.  [Not to mention the thought of going live kinda wigs me out, as you’ll soon see.]

So, without further ado, my video accent blog:

[Wow, that’s pretty much the worst still shot possible.]

Haha, it’s so weird seeing myself.  What’s up with my eyes getting so big all the time?  🙂

So, what do you think?  Do I have an accent?  Do I sound different than what you expected?

Have a gorgeous day, everyone!  Hooray for tomorrow being Friday!

AND…i disagree, i don’t think that is the “worst still shot possible” you look beautiful and radiant 🙂 Your eyes always smile, and that’s why you think they get big all the time 🙂 love you!

As a Hawaii girl who has lost any trace of the Hawaii accent after living in Boston 8 years (hello, what?), I can say you def. have an accent. Hawaii people say their “a”s and ”o”s in particular funny. Like I totally called comcast once and got a girl who had just moved here from Hawaii and got a job working at the comcast call center in like, Texas, and I immediately was like “DID I JUST CALL THE HAWAII COMCAST?!” and she was like no, I just moved to Texas.

Also the way you say grandpa and grandma is really Hawaii.

Haha, when I was in school in Oregon I thought I lost my accent too, but I swear, the minute you come back it all just floods back to Hawai’i mode :).

PS: I canNOT believe you’ve been on the east coast for 8 years. Planning on staying?

I think you say some words with a Hawaiian accent and some you don’t really have an accent.

I didn’t understand why spitting image was on there either and my husband, who is from South Carolina, said that some people in the south say spittin’ image.

What up, east coast reader right here! Reppin’ NY and LI (I just was going to go into a tangent about regions and identity because we discussed it in class last night but I won’t)

FIrst off, you are too cute. Secondly, I don’t think you have a giant accent when it comes to saying just the single words…I noticed it more when you were just speaking normally to us.

      Yeah Katie! Represent! 🙂

I noticed that the more I talk, the more I sound like myself. LOL. Words, not so much… except February [I seriously had no idea I said it like that… is that weird or what?].

I’d LOVE for you to do an accent blog!!! I want to hear what you sound like! 🙂

This was fun… I listened to a girl from Mississippi after you, she was cute!! I’d love to hear the Boston accent 🙂 You are so cute, Missy!!

Hey girlie!!! Its sugirl06 from SP. Love this video! You are too freaking adorable. I think I might do this blog on mine too! There was a word or two that I giggled at but I think you don’t sound any different than me or anyone I know (I’m from NJ) but then again, I’m terrible with accents in that I don’t think I notice them as much as other people do. That was fun! You should do more video blogs in the future 🙂

Hey Ang! So glad you stopped by my blog :). It makes me blush just thinking about having a video online, but I do think it’s kinda cool to be able to hear accents from around the country. I hope you do it!!! I can’t wait to hear what you sound like and see you in motion after years of friendship!! 🙂
