This weekend was glorious. I got a little bit of everything in!
Saturday morning was – as always – reserved for the farmer’s market. Ben was feeling a bit under the weather, so I let him sleep in while I perused the ever-growing options [I love how much the Upcountry Farmer’s Market has grown!]. I came home with more farm fresh eggs, a couple huge bunches of kale, some onions, apple bananas, papayas, avocados, zucchini, cabbage and eggplant.
Usually Ben and I come home after the market just to drop off our produce before heading out on some type of adventure. This weekend we hung around the house! It was so nice to be able to prep my veggies and cook with super fresh produce!

Later that night, we went into town to watch the last game for our island’s baseball team, Na Koa Ikaika. Turns out, the team they were supposed to play ran out of funding and couldn’t afford to fly to Hawai`i. Instead, a team made of Maui County Police + Firefighters played. It was so much fun, even if the score was 10-1 for six innings.
Ben still wasn’t feeling so hot on Sunday morning, so Mom, our best friend Zak, and I headed to the mountains!
[the view from Waihe`e Ridge]
We decided to kick our own bootays and do the Waihe`e Ridge hike in the West Maui Mountains. This 2.5 mile hike is no joke – the first two times I attempted it, the switchbacks got to me and I didn’t make it to the top. Since then, I’ve done this hike multiple times. The views are spectacular and it always gives me a killer workout.
Plus, it has stairs.
The LiveFit program entails once-a-week cardio challenges, which are meant to be done on the weekend [most people do them on Saturday]. For my first week, we were challenged to walk/jog [or hike!] 2 miles + climb 300 stairs.
Waihe`e Ridge only has about 80 actual stairs, but the hike itself climbs 1,563 feet, taking you from 1,000 ft elevation to 2,563! I’d say that counts.
The hike was muddier than I had ever experienced,
and I ate it three times [klutz].
[I always manage to obtain battle wounds.]
My mom was the only one who came away without a muddy booty [skills!]. We all had such a great time together!
After the ridge, we met up with some friends at the beach, grabbed some sandwiches, and made our way home.
Such a wonderful weekend!
Today I started Week Two of the LiveFit program! I bought a new kettlebell – 30lbs! – and am pretty sure you can tell how I’m feeling about it all:
Hope you had a fantastic weekend and are taking on this week with enthusiasm!
